The circle strafe level are divided by the following "levels"

  • Level 1
  • Level 2 or Level 0
  • Level 3
  • level 4
  • level 4.1sigma
  • level 4.2
  • level 4.3

Reverse Matador: While your back is turned towards the enemy, keep moving forward until you can tell they are in a suitable range to pull off a stab. Once they are in this range, strafe in one direction, and then the other to confuse the opponent. Then, do a 180 facing the target and pull of a quick side stab. This stab relies heavily on prediction, as with most advanced trickstabs.

Air Stab: While in the air, try to move above or behind another enemy that is also airborne. Note that stair stabs and drop stabs do not count as air stabs. Seen commonly when you surf off of a rocket and connect it with an explosive jumping player while in the air.

Surf Stab: Damage propels you in a way that you can get a height advantage. You can use this to get above or over a target and stab them. Easier with Rockets and Sticky bombs since the explosions are under your feet giving you instant an aerial advantage.

Switch Stab: While being pursued, simply strafe to the right or left opposite of where your target is heading, backpedal until you get to their back, and stab. Note that the difference between this stab and the Moonwalk is that the switch stab is not on any sort of circle strafe level.

Moonwalk: A common method to get a circle strafe stab. Take in consideration that a moonwalk is NOT switch stab. What differentiates the two trick stabs is that moonwalks only want little or no timing at all, and is more practical in the midst's of a battle. you can recover and get a back pedal stab when people sneak up on you. First spot someone who has spotted you and Lead them to "chase" you. Once you are in an appropriate position, start a backpedal stab trapping your target between you and a wall. If they start to backpedal as well, that is how you know you are doing a Moonwalk and not a Switch Stab. Once their back is visible, stab their shoulder. Note that this might result in a Mini-Crit backstab.
